Topic : Some people think that counterfeiting benefits consumers by giving them access to lower price goods. What do you think?

Warm up (brainstorming)/ short talk about unethical practices.
Task 1: Answer the following questions.
-What are the characteristics of counterfeit goods?

*They are of poor quality and they don’t last long./They can even be harmful./They are not safe.
-Why do some peple(consumers) buy them?
*They buy them because they are available at lower prices/ they are cheap.
-Why, for example, fake medicines are harmful? What they can cause?
They are harmful because they contain no active ingredients. They can cause diseases and even death to people.
-Why is counterfeiting considered as theft? It is considered so because it is imitating other people’s property.
-Does piracy kill creativity and innovation? Yes it does.(it is a refusal to engage in creative acts).
-What your advice to those who engage in pirating objects?
-They had better engage in creating new objects or , at least, improve the existing ones.
-Would you accept the fact Algeria be famous for counterfeiting? Why? No I wouldn’t. It gives bad reputation to my country.

Task 2: Use the information you have provided in task 1 to write a short opinion article.

    sample article :

Some people argue that counterfeiting benefits consumers by giving them access to lower-price goods. This is a totally mistaken claim. First, imitated good are of poor quality and they do not last long. So, it’s waste of money to buy them.
Secondly, fake products are not safe; they can be harmful. For example, fake medicines, which have lack of active ingredients, can cause serious diseases and even death to people.
Thirdly, counterfeiting is considered theft because it is imitating other people’s property to make profit without their consent.

Furthermore, piracy kills creativity and innovation; it is a refusal to engage in creative and new acts. Pirates had better engage in creating /inventing news object or, at least, improve the quality of the existing ones.
Finally, I wouldn’t accept the fact that Algeria be famous for counterfeiting because it gives bad reputation to both the country and people.
