I need your help , English teachers !!

you are kindly requested to provide me with your comments and viewpoints on the literary texts included in First year textbbok(At the Cross Roads).How do you see those texts in terms of their suitability, usefulness, and ,more importantly, learners' response to and empathy with them.

if you're speaking about the text extracted from ' things fall apart', i'll tell you that it's a high level that our first year students ( especially those of nowadays) can't assimilate.
to deal with such texts, you need a minimum backgroung about the african society, something our students ignore completely. do you think that when these students read the text of Dickens, they know something about the England of the 18 or 19th century ? I don't think so!!!! 1st year book should be revised

I 'd like to say that the book is just a means not an end, so it's up to the teacher to decide for his/her very pupils what he/she judges to be suitable for them as far he/she sticks to the functions, language outcomes of the unit.
Putting such a survey shows that you're on the right way.
